Returning to Walla Walla, after having moved away almost 40 years ago, I often come upon places which have strong associations with family and friends – most of whom have long ago passed on.


Using photographs I took in the late 1960’s at summer family gatherings, I went back to the same locations during a recent winter and photographed a wider view, matching the angles as closely as possible.


I then overlaid the old photos onto the recent pictures to create these “Ghosts of Walla Walla” images.  Like memories, some of the old photos align better with the current picture – or reality – than others.
